San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League today announced that the Florida Panthers have traded goaltender Wade Flaherty to the Nashville Predators, in exchange for defenseman Pascal Trepanier (PAS-kal, TREHP-uhn-yay), who will be assigned to San Antonio.
Trepanier, 29, has played in 228 National Hockey League contests with Colorado (97-98, 01-02) and Anaheim (98-01) recording 12 goals, 22 assists and 34 points. This season, he has appeared in one game with the Nashville Predators and 52 games with the Milwaukee Admirals, registering 24 points (9-15-24).
"Pascal Trepanier is a handy guy because of his ability to both defense and forward," said Florida Panthers General Manager Rick Dudley. "He's a competitor, and a guy who has proven over the past years that he can add something, certainly as a recall and maybe as a regular at the National Hockey League level."
Throughout his nine-year professional career the Gaspe, Quebec native has also played in 241 AHL contests, winning a Calder Cup championship with the Hershey Bears during the 1996-97 campaign. During that same year, he posted AHL career highs recording 14 goals, 39 assists and 53 points. For his career in the AHL, he has collected 141 points (49-92-141) and 431 penalty minutes.
He will be available for the Rampage when they host the Houston Aeros on Tuesday night, March 11 at 7:00 p.m.
Flaherty, 35, appeared in 30 games with the Rampage this year, posting an 11-13-5 mark with a 2.88 goal against average and a .914 save percentage. In his most recent action in San Antonio, he turned away 39 of 43 shots last night as the Rampage suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
"It actually makes this organization very happy to give Wade Flaherty a chance to play at the National Hockey League level. He has been a class act from the moment he joined our organization," said Dudley. "Obviously, with the recent addition of Simon Lajeunesse, it allowed us to give Flaherty the chance to go to the NHL."
The Terrace, British Columbia native was recalled by Florida on three separate occasions this season, but did not play in a game. For his career, Flaherty has appeared in 119 NHL contests for San Jose (1991-97), the New York Islanders (1997-2001), Tampa Bay (2000-01) and Florida (2001-02).
San Antonio travels to Houston today to take on their intrastate rivals the Aeros at 5:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on KTKR "The Ticket" 760 AM with Andrew Monaco calling all the action.
