
Trenton walks off with 7-6 win

(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton Infielder Justin Snyder hit a walk-off RBI double to give Trenton a 7-6 win over New Britain in 14 innings on Saturday night from Waterfront Park. It was Trenton's second 14-inning game this season (4/9 vs. BNG).
With two outs in the 14th inning, Left fielder Richie Robnett singled off of New Britain Reliever Kyle Waldrop (1-1). Snyder followed with a double into the lef-center field gap to plate Robnett with the game-winning run. The walk-off hit was Snyder's second of the season. He hit a walk-off home run vs. Altoona on May 30th. Thunder Reliever Josh Schmidt (7-1) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Waldrop hurled 3 2/3 innings of relief for the Rock Cats but took the loss. Down 6-4 in the 10th innning, Trenton rallied to tie the game with two outs in the frame. Second Basemen Reegie Corona singled off of New Britain Reliever Anthony Slama to extend the inning. Shortstop Eduardo Nunez followed with a two-run home run down the left-field line to tie the game at 6-6.
Trenton (40-40) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a double-play ground ball off the bat of Nunez. But, the Rock Cats would scored four unanswered runs to take a 4-1 lead. In the third inning, the Rock Cats scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead. New Britain (41-39) tied the game at 1-1 on an RBI double by Right fielder Juan Portes. The Rock Cats took the lead later in the frame on a sacrifice fly RBI by Second baseman Brian Dinkelman. New Britain increased the lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning on an error by Trenton First baseman Jorge Vazquez. The error allowed New Britain Catcher Allan De San Miguel and New Britain Center fielder Rene Tosoni to score. Trenton chipped away at the lead with two runs in the sixth inning. With two outs in the frame, Second baseman Reegie Corona singled off of New Britain Starting Pitcher Carlos Gutierrez. Corona stole second to move into scoring position. Nunez followed with a walk against New Britain Reliever Jose Lugo. Vazquez then drilled a two-run double off of Lugo to slice the New Britain lead to 4-3. In the seventh inning, the Thunder tied the game on an RBI double by Left fielder Richie Robnett.
Trenton Starting Pitcher Ryan Pope tossed six innings and received a no-decision. He scattered seven hits and four runs. New Britain Starting Pitcher Carlos Gutierrez hurled five innings and yielded only one hit and one run. He also received a no-decision. Trenton's bullpen combined to toss eight innings and only gave up two runs.
Trenton continues its three-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats (Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins) on Sunday night.
