
Jose Molina to rehab with Thunder

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that C Jose Molina is tentatively scheduled to make a rehabilitation start for the Thunder on Sunday, July 5th against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) at 6:05 PM.
The New York Yankees placed Molina on the disabled list on May 8 with a strained left quad.
Molina is a 10-year Major League veteran who has appeared in 518 games for Chicago (NL), Anaheim and the Yankees. He has a career average of .238 with 20 HR and 131 RBI. He appeared in 100 games (81 starts) for the Yankees in 2008, the most of any season in his Major League career. Last year, he also set career highs in at-bats, hits, and runs.
Molina holds the distinction of having hit the last home run in the history of Yankee Stadium. He is one of three Molina brothers currently playing in the Majors (Bengie-San Francisco and Yadier-St. Louis).
There have been 27 Major League players that have come to Trenton on rehabilitation appearances in the team's 15 year history including: Derek Jeter (2003), Bernie Williams (2003), Hideki Matsui (2006) and Roger Clemens (2007). The last was Brian Bruney on June 13, 2009.
The Thunder have announced that all kids will eat for free at Waterfront Park all season long. All children with a ticket, ages 12 and under, will receive a voucher upon entering the ballpark good for a free hot dog, bag of potato chips and a 12 oz. fountain soda at all 71 Thunder home games this season.
