Aerodynamics...
Staying Perfect...The Aeros kept their flawless record against the Senators intact in the series opener last night, as C Carlos Santana belted a pair of home runs to power the purple and black to a 7-5 triumph at Metro Bank Park as Akron improved to a perfect 9-0 against Harrisburg on the season. The Aeros trailed 5-2 after six innings, but struck for four runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good. Three straight singles opened the inning and chased Sens starter Luis Atilano, and after a two-run single from CF Jose Constanza brought Akron to within a run, Santana tied the game with an RBI single and LF Matt McBride put the Aeros ahead to stay with an RBI base hit of his own.
Dr. Livingston, I Presume...Some more fun facts on the newest Aero, LHP Bobby Livingston: Originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the fourth round (129th overall) in 2001...Started the Texas League All-Star Game in 2005...Made his Major League debut April 25th, 2006 for Seattle against the Chicago White Sox...Went 4-4 with an RBI for Cincinnati in a 10-3 victory over Atlanta July 16th, 2007 at Turner Field (also earned the win)...Granted his release from the Orioles by exercising a clause in his contract that stipulated he could become a free agent if he was not in the big leagues by July 1st.
Did You Know...Santana's two-homer performance was his second of the season, and he also notched his first three-hit game of the year...Akron pitching set a new season-high by recording 14 strikeouts last night.
