Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque Isotopes manager Dean Treanor will keep his familiar perch in the third base dugout for the Triple-A All-Star Game, as the skipper has been selected by the Pacific Coast League to helm the PCL All-Stars when they take on their counterparts from the International League on July 11th, League President Branch B. Rickey announced today.

Treanor, who managed the Isotopes in 2003 inaugural season, has managed the ‘Topes in every year of the team's existence but one, amassing an overall record in Albuquerque of 222-208. This season, the veteran manager became the fourth-longest tenured skipper in the history of Albuquerque Triple-A baseball. Under Treanor's stewardship, the ‘Topes have consistently been one of the most competitive teams in the PCL, finishing first in the division in 2003 and just two-and-a-half games out of the top spot in 2006. This season, Albuquerque is currently in first place despite playing with a roster that has endured 32 different transactions in the month of May alone.

The Isotopes manager becomes the fourth skipper from Albuquerque to helm the PCL All-Stars. In 1988, Terry Collins, manager of the Dukes, helmed the All-Stars in Buffalo, while in 1990, Kevin Kennedy took charge of the All-Star Team in Las Vegas. Future Dodgers manager Bill Russell also served manager as manager the last time the game was played in the Duke City in 1993.

Joining Treanor on the All-Star Field Staff is Isotopes trainer Steve Miller, who is in his third season with the ‘Topes. After joining the Marlins organization in 2002, Miller's ascent has been rapid through the Marlins' system, spending time in Single-A Greensboro and Double-A Carolina before joining Albuquerque in 2005.

Also on the Pacific Coast League All-Star Field staff are former Los Angeles Dodgers Von Joshua, who is in his second season as hitting coach for the Iowa Cubs, and pitching coach Ken Howell, who is currently in the same role with the Las Vegas 51s. Both Joshua and Howell spent time with the Dukes. Joshua played in 1972 as well as coached from 1988 to 1992, while Howell spent two stints as a Dukes player, 1983-1984, and 1987-1988.

Triple-A All-Star Fiesta ticket packages are currently on sale. Starting at $65, fans can buy an all-inclusive All-Star Package that features both days of the Fan Fest (where former Dukes and Dodgers Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Bill Russell, among many others will be on hand signing autographs), the PNM Power Derby on July 9 and Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11 at Isotopes Park. Tickets can be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. For more information, visit www.albuquerquebaseball.com or call 505-924-2255.
