
Sidewinders Take Series With 7-2 Win

PORTLAND, Ore. - Matt Morgan drove in three runs and Yusmeiro Petit picked up his fourth win for the Tucson Sidewinders in a 7-2 victory over the Portland Beavers before 6,906 Thursday night at PGE Park.
Luis Cruz belted a two-run homer for the Beavers (20-26), who were 2-6 during their eight-game homestand.
Petit (4-3) yielded two runs and three hits in five innings for the Sidewinders, who won three of the four games in the series.
Ryan Ketchner (0-5) is still searching for his first Triple-A win, taking the loss by giving up four runs on four hits and four walks in five innings.
The Sidewinders (24-22) trailed early but posted three runs each in the fourth and eighth inning.
Cruz gave the Beavers the lead in the second with his fifth home run of the season.
Tucson (24-22) responded in the top of the third, getting back a run with a pair of walks and a sac fly from Jeff Salazar.
Ketchner found trouble in the fourth, allowing a double, a single and hitting a batter to load the bases with no outs. Morgan drove in two with a single up the middle, and Danny Richar chipped an RBI single through the left side.
Jamie D'Antona doubled and scored on an RBI single by Brian Barden in the eighth, and the Sidewinders tacked on two more in the inning for a 7-2 lead.
The Beavers open a four-game series at Las Vegas Friday night.
NOTES: The Beavers drew 21,558 fans over the last three games of their homestand ... Paul McAnulty presented manager Rick Renteria with a commemorative print and an autographed baseball signed by the entire Beavers organization before the game in recognition of Renteria's 500th managerial win achieved Sunday ... Renteria was ejected by home plate ump Shawn Rakos in the third inning ... Clay Hensley gets his second major league rehab start for the Beavers Friday night in Las Vegas ... the three Bob L. Head finalists vying to be the star of a Beavers bobblehead promotion on Aug. 18 are scheduled to appear on "First Take" on ESPN2 Friday morning. Bob L. Head from California was featured in this week's Sports Illustrated.
