TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Iowa Cubs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Last year, Iowa tied Nashville for first in the American North Division. They lost the division title to Nashville by tie-breaker.

VS. IOWA:

The RedHawks and Cubs split a four-game series at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark May 17-20. The RedHawks won the middle two games. The Hawks hit .312 with three home runs in the series. The RedHawks were 4-4 at Principal Park last season.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 47 of the season. It's the first game of a four-game series and the fifth of 15 meetings between Oklahoma and Iowa this season.

LAST GAME:

The RedHawks fell four games below .500 for the first time this season after losing a doubleheader at Omaha last night. Omaha won both games in their last at bat of the game. Craig Brazell hit two homers, and Billy Butler hit a grand slam in the second game for the Royals. Mike Wood lost his for the first time this season in the first game by allowing three runs on four hits in 7.1 innings. Scott Shoemaker made a spot start in the second game and earned a no-decision, allowing a run on two hits in three innings. A.J. Murray took the loss by allowing five runs on three hits in one inning of work.

PITCHING MATCHUP: John Koronka

will make his ninth start for the RedHawks. Koronka is back after making a start for Texas Saturday at Houston. He took the loss by allowing three runs on six hits in five innings of work. Ryan O'Malley starts for Iowa. O'Malley beat the RedHawks May 20 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, allowing five runs on nine hits in five innings of work.

MAY HOMERS:

The RedHawks have hit 27 home runs in the month of May after Tug Hulett, Kevin West and David Matranga all hit solo homers last night. The Hawks hit just nine in 24 games in April.

MISSED OPPORTUNITIES:

The RedHawks have left 25 runners on base against the Royals. The RedHawks went 4-for-34 with runners in scoring position in the series..

BATTER OF THE WEEK: Jason Botts

is the PCLs Batter of the Week after hitting .524 (11-21) with two doubles, a home run, nine RBIs and five runs scored in six games. In 22 games this month, he is hitting .345 with three home runs and 22 RBIs. For the season, Botts is now hitting .270 with four home runs and a 36 RBIs. Botts is tied for third in the PCL in RBIs (36).

MARLON BYRD:

Byrd is putting up good numbers this season. He is second in the PCL with 62 hits and fourth with a .360 average and fourth with 23 extra base hits. For the month of May, Byrd is hitting .396 with six home runs and 25 RBIs.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks have lost five games in a row, and seven straight games on the road...The Hawks are second in the month of May with a .304 team batting average...Byrd has a eight-game hitting streak...The RedHawks are last in the month of May with a 7.34 team ERA...RedHawk pitchers are 5th in the PCL in fewest hits allowed with 415 despite a league worst 5.52 team ERA...the Hawks have not committed an error seven consecutive games...Botts has played in every game this season.
