Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Traverse City Beach Bums staged a late three-run rally to come from behind in a 4-2 victory over the Evansville Otters on Wednesday night.

Both teams remained scoreless over the first six innings as Otters starter Bryce Morrow took a no-hitter in to the seventh inning.

Leadoff hitter Chase Burch worked for an eight-pitch at-bat and an eventual go-ahead home run to left-center field.

Evansville would fight back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from catcher Billy Killian and a go-ahead run-producing fielder's choice from outfielder Matt Sheely. It was the first game off the injured list for Sheely since he suffered a concussion last week.

Down 2-1, Traverse City would score three runs in the eighth inning including a tying RBI triple from former Evansville Otter Ryan Still. Infielder Jose Vargas recorded the go-ahead double and Burch followed with a base hit single to create a 4-2 lead.

Evansville rallied in the bottom inning but were unable to score again in the two-run defeat.

Traverse City has now won both games to open the series and stand at 47-27 this season. Evansville is now 35-39 this year.

Reliever Nick Capito (5-0) is the winning pitcher after throwing a scoreless seventh inning. Pitcher Patrick Crider (2-2) surrendered three runs in 0.1 innings for the loss. Closer Matt Miller (7th save) recorded the final five outs to secure the win.

Morrow threw 7.0 innings in the game, allowing just one run on two hits. He also had eight strikeouts in the contest.

Evansville will look to win the final game of the series on Thusday night. It is Working Distributor's Night with Thirsty Thursday and $1 beer. First pitch set for 6:35 p.m. CDT as left-hander Matt Crim (3-7, 4.11 ERA) will be on the mound for the Otters opposite that of right-hander Brooks Belter (8-2, 3.25).
