Rascals Lose Season-High Fifth Straight

River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo. - Boomers on the field and in the sky combined to shut out River City for the fourth time in five games, losing to Schaumburg by a final of 11-0 in seven innings, and have now been outscored 41-1 in the last five games.

The Rascals (34-40) fell behind 2-0 before coming to the bat as Steve McQuail drilled a two-run double for the early lead. After stranding two runners on in the bottom of the frame, River City starter Justin Sarratt fell behind 3-0 in the second before this fell apart for River City in the fourth.

It took three pitchers to get through 12 hitters in the inning that saw the Boomers score seven runs on seven hits to take a commanding 10-0 lead. Schaumburg (43-31) added another in the fifth for an 11-0 lead that would stand up in a game that was called after one out in the top of the eighth inning due to rain.

River City will try to salvage a game of this three game series Thursday when Preston Vancil (4-8, 4.15) takes the mound for the Rascals against Matt Kuna (2-3, 3.31).
