DANBURY, CT--Shawn Collymore and Drew Omicioli each netted two goals while Sly Daigle stopped 40 shots as the Danbury Trashers defeated the Rockford IceHogs before a sellout crowd on Saturday night at the Danbury Ice Arena.

Rockford closed the gap as Greg Barber scored the first of a pair of goals at the 7:06 mark as the Trashers took a 2-1 lead into the dressing room at the end of the first.

The Trashers extended their lead in the second period, first with a Collymore goal at 2:38, followed by Jeff Daw's shorthanded goal at the 11:33 mark before Rockford scored late in the period as Preston Mizzi beat Daigle with a power-play goal as the Trashers led 4-2 after the second.

The final period started on shaky ground for Danbury as Barber scored his second of the night at 2:27, followed by Chaz Johnson's game-tying goal at the 3:41 mark.

Danbury regained the lead as JM Daoust shot a puck from the corner that was tipped into the Rockford net by IceHogs forward Preston Mizzi at the 10:17 mark. Omicioli's second goal was an empty netter at 19:59 as he shot a 100 footer while slipping onto the ice into the open net. Things looked promising for Danbury as they jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals from JM Daoust and Alex Goupil before Kalmikov's first goal was scored on a breakaway at the 16:34 mark to cut Danbury's lead to 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

Mario Larocque's 5th goal of the season tied the score at 4-4 as he scored in his return since an injury that sidelined him since January 8th, assisted by Daoust and Jeff Daw, who finished with two assists.

Mike Omicioli took a major slashing penalty at the 16:56 mark that gave the Jackals a power play for the remainder of regulation. Kalmikov regained the Jackals lead at the 17:41 mark, and then scored an empty netter at 19:03 as the Trashers were trying to tie the score in the final minute.
