
Quad City's Woollard and Friesen earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Quad City Mallards right wing Chad Woollard has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Quad City Mallards goaltender Terry Friesen has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 12th, 2006.
Woollard completed the week with ten points (6g, 4a) and plus-7 rating in four games played. He had a three-point night (1g, 2a) in Wednesday's 4-1 victory vs. Port Huron. In Saturday's 5-2 win vs. Fort Wayne, he netted a "hat trick" (3g), including the game-winner. It was the first hat trick by a Mallard player this season. Woollard tallied four points (2g, 2a) in Sunday's 7-3 win vs. Missouri. The 26-year-old native of Durham, Ontario leads his team with 62 points (38g, 24a). His 38 goals currently rank fourth in the UHL and his 20 power play goals rank second.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack Frostbite right wing Frank Bakrlik, Danbury center Shawn Collymore, Elmira right wing Konstatin Kalmikov, Flint forward Leo Thomas, Fort Wayne left wing Brent Rumble, Kalamazoo right wing Tyler Willis, Missouri left wing Paul Falco, Motor City forward Vlad Serov, Muskegon left wing David Wrigley, Port Huron defenseman Ryan Gillis, Richmond center Mike Oliveira, Roanoke center Jan Jas, and Rockford center Olivier Proulx.
Friesen finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 2.00 goals against average (GAA), and a .935 save percentage (SPCT). On Wednesday, he stopped 22 shots in the 4-1 win vs. Port Huron. He made 36 saves in the 7-3 victory vs. Missouri on Sunday. Over the course of his two wins, Friesen held the opponents scoreless for a span of 78:02. The 28-year-old native of Winkler, Manitoba has won his last three starts and has a 5-4-0 record this season.
