Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
LAST WEEK'S GAMES: The Vipers had a busy week at home, playing four games in five days at the Roanoke Civic Center. Wednesday night the Vipers fell to the Adirondack Frostbite 8-3. The Richmond RiverDogs came to town for two games on Friday and Saturday nights, winning the first game 4-2, and falling to the Vipers 5-3 on Saturday night as the Vipers eight-game losing slide came to an end. The Rockford IceHogs beat the Vipers on Sunday to finish off the homestand, overcoming the tired Vipers by a final score of 7-3.

Goaltender Glenn Ridler made his Viper debut Friday night against the Vipers' in-state rival the Richmond RiverDogs. Ridler stopped 33 of 36 RiverDogs shots, and kept the Vipers in the game until he surrendered the lead to Richmond on a Todd Grant goal with 2:40 left in the game. Jan Jas, Mike Krelove, and Matt Miller each notched two points in the loss, and were responsible for both Vipers goals.
Saturday, March 11th vs. Richmond

Glenn Ridler earned his second straight start in net for the Vipers, and proved himself worthy as he helped the Vipers snap an eight-game losing slide to earn his first UHL and Viper win. Fan favorite D-man Travis Smith scored his first goal of the season, and David Beauregard, Matt Elich, Jan Jas, and Gray Shaneberger each contributed two points.
Sunday, March 12th vs. Rockford
Rockford IceHogs 7, Roanoke Valley Vipers 3
Travis Smith scored his second goal in as many games for the Vipers, which was only his second of the season Sunday afternoon as the Vipers hosted the Rockford IceHogs for the first and only time this season. New Viper forward Sean Starke, who was acquired earlier in the week along with Simon Rizk in exchange for Charlie Elezi and Erick Lajoie, scored two goals for the Vipers. The Vipers were otherwise quiet offensively, making only 15 shots on Ronnie Vogel and the IceHogs.
THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Vipers will head to Glens Falls, New York to face the Adirondack Frostbite on Wednesday before heading to Danbury, Connecticut for a Friday-Saturday matchup against the Trashers. The Vipers will meet up with former teammate and captain David Beauregard, who was traded to the Trashers today for Carlyle Lewis, Frederic Belanger, and John Osborne. Danbury will follow the Vipers home Saturday night for a Sunday afternoon game at 5:05p.m. at the Roanoke Civic Center.
