
Mallards Win Three of Four to Continue Playoff Chase

Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Mallards went 3-1-0 last week to improve to 30-24-7 on the year. Quad City has moved six points ahead of Richmond for the final UHL playoff spot. On Wednesday, the Mallards beat Port Huron 4-1 at The MARK. After being shutout 4-0 in Fort Wayne on Friday, the team rebounded to earn a 5-2 win over the Komets on Saturday at The MARK. The Quad City offense continued its hot play with a 7-3 win over Missouri at The MARK on Sunday.
This week the Mallards head to Port Huron on Friday and Muskegon on Saturday for the final back-to-back road games of the 2005-06 regular season. On Sunday, the Mallards host Muskegon in the back end of a home-and-home series with the defending Colonial Cup Champions

The Mallards welcome Molly McMaster to the MARK for a game vs. the Muskegon Fury. McMaster is a colon cancer survivor that is skating a shift with every UHL team to raise awareness about the disease. On Sunday, she will become the first woman to skate with the Mallards. It's also a T.G.I. Friday's Trading Card Giveaway Day as the first 1,000 fans will receive the final installment of the Mallards team set. After the game, join the Mallards at T.G.I. Friday's for a post-game party.
Season Ticket Holder Buddy Nights
Mallards "Buddy Nights" return on March 19th vs. Muskegon. On these special nights, season ticket holders will receive a voucher for one free upper bowl ticket for every ticket they hold. These seats can be upgraded to lower bowl tickets for just $5. For those that haven't picked up their vouchers, they are still available at the Maroon Mortgage Information Table during home games or at The Mallards Nest.

Wednesday, March 8th-Port Huron 1 at Quad City 4
The Mallards overcame a 1-0 deficit after one period to beat the Port Huron Flags 4-1 on Wednesday night at The MARK. The win marked the third straight victory for the Mallards. The Flags took a 1-0 lead on a first period power-play goal by defenseman Ryan Gillis. The tally stood up as the lone goal of the first period and gave the Flags the lead after one despite being outshot 11-6 in the opening period. In the second, the Mallards scored twice to take the lead. Chad Woollard recorded his team-leading 33rd goal of the year at 7:42 of the second period to tie the game at one. Andrei Lupandin followed by scoring on a delayed Flags penalty to give the Mallards a 2-1 lead. In the third, the Mallards secured the victory on goals by Samy Nasreddine and Patrick Nadeau. Nasreddine scored on a power-play just past the halfway mark in the closing period, and Nadeau tallied into an empty net with eight seconds left. Terry Friesen made 22 saves in net to earn his fourth win of 2005-06. Jeff Petruic and Steve O'Rourke both earned assists in their Mallards debuts after being acquired from Muskegon earlier in the day.
Friday, March 10th-Quad City 0 at Fort Wayne 4
The Fort Wayne Komets snapped a three-game Mallards winning streak with a 4-0 win at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Friday night. Fort Wayne netminder Kevin St. Pierre stopped all 27 shots he faced to earn his fourth shutout of the season and second against Quad City. The Komets took a 1-0 lead in the first period on an even-strength goal from David Carpentier. Carpentier's tally stood as the only goal through the game's first 20 minutes. In the second, Fort Wayne's Kelly Miller scored on a rebound to extend the Komet lead to 2-0. St. Pierre and former Mallard Noah Whyte assisted on Miller's goal. In the third, Rob Guinn and Jonathan Goodwin each scored on the power-play for the Komets to spoil any hopes of a Mallards comeback.
Saturday, March 11th-Fort Wayne 2 at Quad City 5
Chad Woollard netted the first Mallards hat trick of 2005-06 as the Mallards beat Fort Wayne 5-2 on Saturday night at The MARK. Jason Tapp stopped a season-high 46 shots in the win. Tapp also reached a new career high for victories in a single season with his 24th win of the year. Woollard opened the scoring with his 34th tally of the year at 8:42 of the first period. Glenn Detulleo and Steve O'Rourke earned helpers on Woollard's first tally. Fort Wayne tied the game just 24 seconds later on a goal by Andrew Luciuk. The first period ended with the game tied at one. In the second period, the Mallards took control of the game on a pair of goals by Woollard. His 35th and 36th tallies of the year staked the Mallards to a 3-1 lead after two periods. The Komets pulled to within one goal when Rob Guinn scored on a 5-on-3 power play at 3:17 of the final frame. Fort Wayne could pull no closer as Rafal Martynowski netted a pair of power-play goals in the final four minutes to secure the win. Martynowski's second goal was scored into an empty net, giving the rookie 19 tallies on the year.
Sunday, March 12th-Missouri 3 at Quad City 7
The Mallards earned their 30th win of 2005-06 with a 7-3 victory over Missouri on Sunday afternoon at The MARK. Chad Woollard recorded two goals and two assists to earn first star honors for the fourth time in the last five Mallards games. In the first, Matt Radoslovich started the Mallards scoring with his 19th goal of the year. The tally ties Radoslovich with Rafal Martynowski for the lead in goal scoring amongst Mallards rookies. In the second, Blake Stewart recorded Missouri's first goal to tie the game at one. Missouri's breath of life was short lived as Woollard scored his first of the game just 39 seconds later to reclaim the Mallards lead. Quad City extended their lead to 3-1 on a goal by Dan Pszenyczny at 7:54 of the second. Woollard's second marker came four minutes later and gave the Mallards a 4-1 edge. Blake Stewart scored again before the second ended to cut the Mallards lead to two goals heading into the third period. The Mallards closed the door on a Missouri comeback attempt with three goals in the first 10:31 of the final period. Glenn Detulleo scored his 11th of the year just 2:33 into the final frame. Tom Clayton followed with his sixth goal at 7:06 of the period. Jeff Petruic recorded his first goal as a Mallard and 14th of the year at 10:31 of the closing period. Frank Littlejohn netted a late goal for the Otters to set the final at 7-3.
Player of the Week
Chad Woollard is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. The Durham, Ontario native had six goals and four assists for 10 points during four games last week.
Goalie of the Week
Terry Friesen is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He was in net for a 4-1 Mallards win on Wednesday vs. Port Huron. Friesen made 22 saves in the win. On Sunday, he stopped 36 shots to lead the Mallards to a 7-3 win over Missouri.
