TRASHERS WEEK IN REVIEW
DANBURY TRASHERS TAKE OVER FIRST PLACE WITH 4-2 WIN OVER ROANOKE December 18, 2005
ROANOKE, VA--Following a night where the Trashers gave a 3rd period away to the Vipers and with a chance at first place on the line, Danbury jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the opening period and built a 4-0 advantage before holding off Roanoke 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Dave MacIsaac was activated from the IR before game time and scored his second of the season just 40 seconds into the opening period, while David Hymovitz added his 11th of the season at the 16:01 mark to give the Trashers a 2-0 lead.
Danbury added another goal in the second period as Sergei Durdin banged in a rebound for his second goal of the season. Both the first and third Trashers goals were assisted by Carlyle Lewis, who finished with three assists in the game.
Jamie Thompson then scored a goal for the third straight game as he lifted the Trashers to a 4-0 lead by the 10:26 mark of the final period. The Vipers countered with a pair of power play goals by Jan Jas and Mike Wiggins to close the gap, but the Vipers ran out of steam.
Jayme Platt stopped 22 of 24 shots to earn his second win of the week and lift the Trashers record to 16-7-4 for 36 points and sole possession of first place, one ahead of the Adirondack Frostbite. Jamie Hodson saved 21 of 24 in the loss, as the Vipers are now 8-12-4 this season.
TRASHERS FALL 4-3 IN SHOOTOUT December 17, 2005
ROANOKE, VA--For the second time in three games, the Danbury Trashers failed to hold a 3rd period lead as they let the Roanoke Vipers win 4-3 in a shootout at the Roanoke Civic Center on Saturday night.
In a game that went back and forth, the Trashers finally scored as Regan Kelly netted a power play goal at the 17:21 mark of the second on a 5-on-3. However, the Vipers scored with just 11 seconds left in the period on a power play goal by Josh Tataryn.
In the third, Jamie Thompson gave Danbury a 2-1 lead with his 4th of the season at the 5:06 mark, but Mike Krelove tied the game with his second just 1:28 later. JM Daoust regained the lead for Danbury at the 15:36 mark, but the Vipers LP Martin tied the score with his 10th just 18 seconds later.
Daoust scored in the shootout, while all three shooters, Crusco, Martin and Shaneberger all scored for the Vipers. Sly Daigle stopped 32 of 35 while Jamie Hodson made 27 saves.
Danbury earned a point with the shootout loss and is now 15-7-4 for 34 points, just one behind Adirondack, who were blanked 4-0 in Kalamazoo on Saturday night.
PLATT TAMES VIPERS WITH 3-0 SHUTOUT WIN OVER ROANOKE December 16, 2005
DANBURY, CT--Two nights after squandering a 3-0 lead in the 3rd period, the Danbury Trashers made sure that nobody from Roanoke would light the lamp as Jayme Platt stopped 23 shots in a 3-0 shutout of the Vipers on Friday night at the Danbury Ice Arena.
The second annual Teddy Bear Toss was resolved quickly as John Osborne scored his first goal as a pro at the 4:16 mark to give Danbury a 1-0 lead, which remained until the 3rd period.
Despite a scoreless second period, the game stayed exciting and physical as the Trashers and Vipers combined to rack up 48 of the 81 penalty minutes in the contest during the second stanza.
The Trashers started quickly in the final frame as Sergei Durdin netted his first of the season just 35 seconds into the period. Jamie Thompson would add another on the power play at the 11:23 mark from Mike Omicioli, who finished with a pair of assists.

Danbury opened the scoring with just 1:04 remaining in the 1st period as Jeff Daw fought a close shot by Jamie Hodson for the only goal in the opening frame.
David Hymovitz opened the scoring in the 2nd period as he one-timed a Carlyle Lewis pass just out of Hodson's reach to give the Trashers a 2-0 lead at the 3:10 mark. Danbury then added a 3rd goal as Drew Omicioli netted his 13th of the season on the power play at the 11:29 mark to give Danbury a 3-0 lead.
