Edinger, Hay Earn Weekly Honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Motor City Mechanics center Adam Edinger has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Port Huron Flags goaltender Scott Hay has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 18, 2005.

Edinger completed the week with six points (3g, 3a) and a plus-3 rating in three games played. On Friday, he netted two goals in the 5-2 victory vs. Muskegon. He has scored six goals in his last two games vs. the league leading Muskegon Fury. Edinger figured into all three goals (1g, 2a) in the 5-3 loss to Port Huron on Saturday. He dished out an assist on the game-tying goal in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win vs. Flint, plus added a goal in the shootout. The 28-year-old native of Toledo, Ohio is currently second in the UHL with 19 goals.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack defenseman P.J. Byrne, Danbury left wing Jamie Thompson, Elmira defenseman Florian Iberer, Fort Wayne center Mark Smith, Kalamazoo defenseman Greg Labenski, Missouri left wing Jim Duhart, Muskegon center Jeff Nelson, Port Huron left wing Brett Lutes, Quad City forward Anthony Blumer, Richmond center Mike Oliveira, Roanoke right wing Louis-Philippe Martin, and Rockford center Preston Mizzi.

Hay finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, a .941 save percentage (SPCT), and a 2.68 goals against average (GAA). He stopped 38 shots in the 5-3 win vs. Elmira on Friday. He then stopped 44 shots in the 5-3 win vs. Motor City on Saturday. On Sunday, he stopped 46 shots in regulation and all four shooters in the extra session of the 3-2 shootout win vs. Kalamazoo. The 30-year-old native of Scarborough, Ontario faced more than 40 shots in each of his three victories during the week. He currently leads UHL goaltenders in saves (595) and shootout wins (5). He ranks third in minutes played (1,141:47) and has a season record of 10-7-1.

Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Adirondack's Derek Gustafson, Danbury's Jayme Platt, Elmira's Nick Boucher, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Joel Martin, Motor City's Bill Ruggiero, Muskegon's Clayton Pool, Quad City's Jason Tapp, Richmond's Mike D'Alessandro, Roanoke's Jamie Hodson, and Rockford's Michel Robinson.
