Tourists to Host Two Fireworks Shows Next Week
June 30, 2011 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release
The Asheville Tourists will have a doubleheader around the Fourth of July as the minor league baseball team continues its tradition of hosting the largest fireworks shows in Western North Carolina. This year, the Tourists will have their post-game holiday extravaganzas after their games against Greenville on Monday, July 4, and Tuesday, July 5.
The Tourists will host the only fireworks show in downtown Asheville on July 4. Tickets are available for both games, with the July 4th fireworks sponsored by ABCCM and the July 5th show sponsored by Asheville Savings Bank. Both nights will feature the same spectacular show, with the Tourists lighting up the skies and fascinating every member of the family.
"These are two of our most popular nights of the season, and we really take pride in providing our fans and families throughout the area with a great holiday tradition," said Tourists president Brian DeWine. "Our sponsors, ABCCM and Asheville Savings Bank, really make this happen, and we appreciate their support in this family-oriented activity centered on the biggest day of summer."
Since 1936, Asheville Savings Bank has provided superior financial services with honesty and integrity throughout Western North Carolina. ABCCM, meanwhile, is the primary non-profit organization addressing poverty, hunger, homelessness and access to health care for the under-served in Buncombe County. Begun as a small collaboration of churches in 1969, ABCCM has played a significant role in meeting emergency assistance needs for families through four ministries; crisis, shelter, medical, and jail/prison.
Game time for both July 4 and July 5 is 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. on July 4 and at 5:30 p.m. on July 5. Tickets can be purchased at the McCormick Field box office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. this Saturday, and 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets can also be obtained on the team's website, theashevilletourists.com. For more information, contact the Tourists' front office at (828) 258-0428.
