
Power's Second Walk-Off Win of the Week

HIGHLIGHTS: The West Virginia Power beat the Lexington legends 5-4 in 14 innings Thursday at Appalachian Power Park. Dan Grovatt singled with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 14th to give the Power their second walk-off win of the week.
The Power opened the scoring in the second inning after Cole White drove a triple off the wall in right field. Chase Lyles followed with a single that drove White across moving West Virginia ahead 1-0.
The Legends responded in the top of the third inning picking up three runs. Lexington put up four hits against Power starter Tyler Waldron moving the Legends ahead 3-1.
West Virginia would respond in the bottom half of the inning. Drew Maggi led the inning off with a double, lined into the right centerfield gap. Two batters later, Mel Rojas Jr. blasted a two run round tripper over the right field fence knotting the count up at three.
West Virginia starter, Tyler Waldron threw four innings giving up three runs on four hits and striking out two.
The score would remain 3-3 until the top of the eighth inning. Telvin Nash reached base on a single and would later score on a single from Emilio King putting Lexington ahead 4-3.
Down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning the Power stayed alive with a solo shot over the left field wall from Rogelio Noris. The home run tied the score at four and led the game into extra innings.
The game would carry into the 14th inning before the Power would finish with a walk off win. After Noris reached on a fielding error, Kevin Mort singled and Maggi followed with a walk, loading the bases. West Virginia All-Star, Dan Grovatt shot a line drive into centerfield scoring Noris for the winning run as the Power were victorious 5-4.
Porforio Lopez (1-1) picked up the win for the Power pitching three innings allowing no runs on two hits and striking out three.
West Virginia will host Greensboro over the weekend, playing at 7:05 pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 2:05 on July 3. Zack Von Rosenberg will face Jay Rogers Friday night, and the Power will welcome former Charleston Charlie and Pittsburgh Pirate Kent Tekulve to Appalachian Power Park for a special appearance.
