Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Greenville Drive 5-3 on Tuesday night. The Tourists overcame an early 2-0 deficit and held on to win their third straight overall. Antonio Santos notched the win by tossing 6.2 innings.
Greenville plated a pair of unearned runs in the third inning with a two-out, two-run double from Marino Campana. The Tourists only managed one hit through the first four frames despite making hard contact and working deep counts.
In the bottom of the fifth, Asheville used base hits from Taylor Snyder, Matt McLaughlin, and Robbie Perkins to score their first run. In the sixth, the Tourists added two more runs on four hits. Ramon Marcelino and Ryan Vilade both delivered RBI singles.
McLaughlin struck again in the eighth where Asheville plated two insurance runs. Tommy Doyle surrendered an unearned run in the ninth but struck out a pair en route to his fourth save of the season.
Each team committed three errors in the game but Asheville made a number of great defensive plays to counteract the miscues. The Tourists will attempt to win their fourth straight game on Wednesday morning. Asheville has yet to reel off four wins in a row this season.
