Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC-- The Asheville Tourists continued their quality play on the road with 5-2 series opening victory over the Charleston RiverDogs on Saturday night. After dropping the last three games of their homestand, Asheville found their rhythm behind starting pitcher Jesus Tinoco's excellent outing.

Tinoco worked a season-high seven innings and for the third start in a row he did not allow a run. Tinoco only struck out one but he limited the RiverDogs to four hits, all singles, and retired the final 12 batters he faced. The right-hander has not allowed a run in his last 21 and 2/3 innings.

The Tourists took a 1-0 lead when Roberto Ramos led off the second inning with a Home Run to right. Max White then worked a walk, stole second, stole third, and scored on an errant throw. In the third, Dom Nunez left he yard with a solo blast to make the score 3-0.

Asheville tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh. Omar Carrizales tripled up the first base line to plate Luis Jean. Carrizales would later score on another throwing error. Charleston's lone offense came in the bottom of the ninth. Isaias Tejeda cleared the right-field wall for a two-run blast; however, the deficit was too large for the home team to overcome.

Asheville is now 21-9 away from home since the All-Star Break. Both teams will take the field for game two at 5:05pm Sunday evening.
