ON THE SCORESHEET
- William Nylander opened the scoring, scoring the eventual game winner, for the Marlies early in the third period while the Marlies were on the power play. He would add another goal less than 10 minutes later, another power play tally. He continues to pace the AHL scoring race with 26 points through 20 games.
- Nikita Soshnikov also recorded two goals, one shorthanded, bringing his goal total to seven this year.
- Jonathan Bernier turned aside all 22 shots he faced in the first game of his conditioning assignment with the Marlies. It was the 15th AHL shutout of his career.
- Mark Arcobello returned to the score sheet with two power play assists in the second period. He has 15 points in 12 games this season.
- TJ Brennan assisted on the opening Marlies goal. He is second in scoring amongst AHL defencemen and 13th amongst all skaters.
- Frederik Gauthier collected two assists, one shorthanded, to bring his point total to nine through 20 games this season.
NOTABLES
- The Marlies remain first in the North Division, second in the Eastern Conference and second in the AHL.
- Three of the Marlies four goals were special team tallies, two on the power play and one shorthanded.
- The Marlies have now tallied a power play marker in 11 straight games. During that stretch the team is 13/55 (23.6%).
- Four Marlies skaters recorded multi-point nights; Frederik Gauthier, Mark Arcobello, William Nylander and Nikita Soshnikov.
- The Marlies signed David Ayres to an Amateur Try-Out after Antoine Bibeau was recalled to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
