
Griffith's Overtime Goal Wins It for P-Bruins

PROVIDENCE, R. I. - Seth Griffith had a a high light reel worthy goal to win the game in over time.
Acolatse broke the scoring drought 13:53 into the second period, when Subban made the initial save on a Schremp shot, leaving him out of position for Acolatse's shot.
Brandon DeFazio tied the game up with under a minute left to play in the second. From the bumper position on the power play, DeFazio dished the puck to Matt Irwin who unleashed a slap shot from the blue line. Anton Blidh provided the screen, and DeFazio roofed the rebound to give the P-Bruins their first goal of the night.
Max Talbot got his first home goal of the season 14:42 into the third. Talbot stickhandled around his Portland defender and slipped it past McKenna to put the P-Bruins ahead 2-1. Helpers went to Khokhlachev and Breen.
The Pirates responded with a goal of their own with just about 2 minutes left in regulation. Schremp's shot went five hole on Subban. Harper and Matheson were credited with the assists. The period ended tied 2-2, forcing the 3v3 overtime.
The Pirates outshot the P-Bruins 27-14 in the first two periods of the game, but the P-Bruins stepped up in the third and fired 14 on net while only allowing 6. Subban made 31 savesin regulation, one shy of a season best for him.
Griffith scored his fifth of the season to give the P-Bruins the over time win. Anton Blidh had an initial shot on goal, which was then collected by a Portland defender. Griffith forced a turnover then raced towards the net, going airborne and still managing to get a shot off. His shot slipped by McKenna's right pad to end over time and give the P-Bruins the 3-2 win.
This was Alex Khokhlachev's first game back from finger surgery since November 7th. The P-Bruins are back home at the Dunk tomorrow night against the Springfield Falcons.
