Rockford IceHogs News Release

San Antonio, Tex. - After jumping into first place in the Central Division following a thrilling 6-5 overtime win over the Texas Stars on Wednesday night, the Rockford IceHogs (13-5-1-2) continue their Pacific Division swing when they visit the San Antonio Rampage (11-3-6-0) tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Tonight's contest will be broadcast live locally on WIFR's Justice Network on 23.3 and online at AHLLive.com. Television coverage kicks off at 7 p.m., with the IceHogs Warm Up pre-game show. A free audio feed is available via WXRX.com. For instant updates throughout the game, follow the IceHogs on Twitter (@goicehogs).

Rockford's other overtime win this season came at the expense of San Antonio on Wednesday, Nov. 25 when Erik Gustafsson buried a shot on the power play in the extra frame to give the IceHogs a 3-2 victory. That game improved the team's all-time record against the Rampage to 24-14-0-3.

Gustafsson also factored heavily into Wednesday's overtime win over Texas. The rookie defenseman scored the fifth goal for Rockford, and his third assist of the night came on the game-winning overtime goal by Dennis Rasmussen. He has tallied points in five-straight games since the IceHogs hosted Lake Erie on Nov. 22 (2g-6a).

Rasmussen has picked up a point in four-straight contests dating back to the Nov. 25 game against the Rampage (3g-2a). His seven goals on the campaign only trail Ryan Hartman (8g) for the team lead.

Goaltender Michael Leighton has just one loss in his last seven road starts. The veteran goaltender is tied with Yann Danis (Albany Devils) for the AHL lead in wins (12) despite starting one game less than his counterpart.

The IceHogs enter the contest leading the Central Division for the first time all season. Both Rockford and San Antonio lead their respective divisions in points, but the Rampage sit at second in the Pacific Division behind the Ontario Reign due to winning percentage.

The IceHogs defensive corps will look to shut down Mikko Rantanen and Andrew Agozzino, who have tallied 17 and 16 points respectively through only 13 games with the team.

Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 11 vs. Iowa Wild at 7 p.m. Rockford returns home after a five-game road trip to battle the Iowa Wild. The first 1,000 fans 21-and-older will receive an IceHogs Beer Stein courtesy of Bud Light. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. for a Blues Flame Lounge Friday. Fans 21-and-older are invited to enjoy live blues music, a happy hour special, and free appetizers at the Blue Flame Lounge on the main concourse.
