Walleye Notes
Perfect Week Achieved! Toledo started the week with a one goal win against Elmira in which defenseman Ryan Stokes scored with 2:40 left in the third period to give Toledo a 4-3 victory. Saturday night, the Walleye spotted Elmira a 6-1 lead after the first period. The Walleye would outscore Elmira 7-1 after that point, including scoring the last five goals of the game for an 8-7 win. Sunday afternoon, the Walleye finished the week with a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones. Goaltender Jimmy Spratt turned aside 36 of 38 shots to win his first start in a Walleye uniform.
Five Unanswered! The Walleye have won a season-high five straight games. Only the Stockton Thunder (winners of eight in a row) is currently on a better streak than Toledo. The Walleye have won nine of the last 13 games. This is the best run for a Toledo team since January 8-17, 2010, when that team won six consecutive games.
The Scoring Touch! Toledo has scored 29 goals in the last five games for an average of 5.8 goals per game. For the season, the Walleye are scoring 3.15 goals per game. Toledo is currently 10th among all ECHL teams in scoring per game.
Streaking! Walleye forward Randy Rowe is currently on a seven-game point streak in which he has scored five goals with seven assists. Forward Tyler Doig has a goal in five straight games. Both streaks are the longest this season for a Walleye player.
Gametime! Toledo will continue a run of six consecutive games at home with three more this weekend. Friday night, the Trenton Devils will be in Toledo. Toledo is 1-2-0-0 against the Devils this season, but did defeat Trenton 7-6 in the last meeting. Saturday and Sunday will feature the Florida Everblades in Toledo. The Everblades took 2 of 3 when the two played in Florida back in November.
