Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL ¬â¢s Los Angeles Kings, lost 4-2 to the Stockton Thunder before 7,434 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena Sunday evening. The American Red Cross Inland Empire Chapter raised $38,825 at the game.
After the Reign fell behind 1-0 in the first period, David Walker and Lane Caffaro worked the puck in to Shawn Collymore who lifted it over Garrett Zemlak to tie the game at one. It was Collymore ¬â¢s team-leading fifth power-play goal.
Stockton jumped to a 3-1 lead on goals by Ryan Constant and Jarrett Konkle when Collymore struck again on the power play. Zemlak had trouble covering a puck in the crease and Collymore poked it into the net with only 10 seconds left in the second period, cutting the Thunder lead to 3-2. Former Reign center Pierre-Andre Bureau closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:16, and the Thunder won it by a final score of 4-2.
Mike Zacharias stopped 27 shots in his second appearance with the Reign this season, while Zemlak stopped 26 for Stockton.
Tonight ¬â¢s three stars were: 1) STK - Ryan Constant 2) ONT - Shawn Collymore 3) STK - Pierre-Andre Bureau
