
Arcobello, Bendfeld Reassigned From Oklahoma City

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced the Oilers have reassigned rookie forward Mark Arcobello (ARK-oh-bell-oh) defenseman Jordan Bendfeld to the Thunder from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
Arcobello, 22, returns in time to suit up for the ECHL All-Star Classic, representing the Thunder in Bakersfield on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (XM 204/Sirius 208/AmericaOne).
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound forward was assigned to the Thunder from Oklahoma City on Oct. 12, headed to the AHL for his first call-up on Jan. 11 with a four-game assist streak, also leading Thunder rookies, at the time, in points (16) and ranking second in goals (6) in 29 games while totaling eight penalty minutes.
He made his AHL debut with Oklahoma City on Jan. 20, suiting up at Milwaukee.
The Milford, Conn. native suited up in 131 career games through four seasons (2006-10) in college with Yale University (NCAA), scored 116 points (49g-67a) and posted 203 penalty minutes. He finished over a point-per-game average in his final two seasons and was named second-team All-Ivy last season with a career-high 36 points (15g-21a) in 34 games as a 2009-10 senior.
Bendfeld, 22, returns after being originally recalled to Oklahoma City on Nov. 17. He has skated in 16 games for the Barons this year, totaling 35 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound defenseman has suited up in five games for the Thunder this year and was selected in the seventh round (193rd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by Edmonton. He has appeared in 74 career games for the Thunder over the last three seasons (2008-11), scoring 13 points (1g-12a) while posting 138 penalty minutes.
Last season, the Leduc, Alberta native recorded five points (1g-4a) and a +10 rating in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff games, helping guide the Thunder to the National Conference Finals for the first time in team history. Bendfeld also suited up in 52 regular season games last year for the Thunder, posting ten assists and 91 penalty minutes.
He skated for the Oilers in NHL training camp and in the 2010 YoungStars Tournament, also adding ten AHL games last year for Springfield, collecting one assist and seven penalty minutes.
A two-time recipient of the ECHL ¬ÅAward of Excellence, ¬Â Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
