Toledo Tops Tribe Behind Ninth-Inning Rally

INDIANAPOLIS - Jason Krizan hit a three-run double with two outs in the top of the ninth to lift the Mud Hens to a 5-3 win over the Indians on Thursday night at Victory Field. Pablo Reyes homered and hit a two-run triple and Alex McRae tossed 6.2 sharp innings, but the Indians saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

The Indians (48-40) never trailed until Krizan's clutch two-bagger. Toledo (50-39) capitalized on a Sean Rodriguez fielding error that started the ninth. Jacob Robson singled to right after the miscue, but Tanner Anderson (L, 1-2) nearly pitched his way out of trouble by striking out both Dixon Machado and Christin Stewart. Anderson then got ahead of Dawel Lugo in the count but couldn't put him away. Lugo eventually worked a walk to set up Krizan's bases-clearing double.

Zac Houston (S, 3) struck out two during a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save. Zac Reininger (W, 3-1) pitched two shutout innings with three punchouts to secure the win.

The loss dropped Indianapolis to 43-1 when holding a lead going into the ninth. Toledo's comeback improved its record to 1-36 in games when trailing after eight full innings.

Indy plated two runs off Hens righty Jacob Turner in the second thanks to Reyes' first career three-bagger in Triple-A. Kevin Kramer started the frame with a ground-rule double to left that sailed over Christin Stewart's glove and bounced over the wall. Turner retired the next two batters before walking Eric Wood on five pitches. Reyes turned Turner's struggles into damage, lacing his triple narrowly over Mike Gerber to the wall in right.

McRae was perfect through the first three innings but surrendered four singles in the fourth, the latter two by Lugo and Krizan that leveled the score at 2-2.

Reyes' home run in the fifth sailed 432 feet to left field - his third with Indianapolis - to give Indy a 3-2 advantage. He accounted for all three of Indy's RBI.

McRae had to settle for a no-decision despite posting his sixth quality start of the season, second most on the team.

The Indians continue their crucial four-game series with Toledo on Friday night at 7:15 p.m. Left-hander Brandon Waddell (3-4, 6.51) will start for Indy, opposite Mud Hens righty Artie Lewicki (4-3, 4.62).
