Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens took the series finale against the Clippers at Fifth Third Field on Sunday by a score of 7-5. Toledo is now 13-14 on the season.

Josh Turley got the call from Mud Hens manager Lloyd McClendon on Sunday. The lefty tossed 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits while walking four. His ERA now sits at 4.05 for the season.

The Clippers struck first in the top of the first inning following a double off the bat of Columbus 1B Jesus Aguilar and a line drive RBI single from 3B Giovanny Urshela. These runs came with two outs in the inning.

Toledo answered back in the third inning, tying the game off of a double from LF Wynton Bernard and two ground outs that sent him around to score. DH Cameron Maybin was awarded with his eighth RBI of the season for Toledo.

Columbus took the lead back in the fifth inning after Jesus Aguilar scored his second run of the game, this time off a solo home run to center field. Following a walk to Urshela, Clippers LF Robbie Grossman sent his fifth homer of the season over the wall in left center field. This increased the Columbus lead over Toledo to 4-1. Turley's outing was finished after this long ball, and Jeff Ferrell took over in relief.

Toledo cashed in on two Columbus errors and reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fifth after an RBI fielder's choice from 3B Casey McGehee that scored both Maybin and Bernard. With RF Steven Moya up to bat, the slugger drove in his ninth home run of the season, giving Toledo the 5-4 lead. Moya now has 23 RBI's this season, which is good for the top spot in the International League.

With Ferrell still on to pitch for the Hens in the sixth, Columbus tied the game following an RBI single off the bat of SS Erik Gonzalez.

The back-and-forth offensive game continued in the bottom of the sixth when C Humberto Quintero came through with an RBI single, scoring 2B Argeniz Diaz and giving Toledo the 6-5 lead. Toledo added an insurance run in the eighth after an RBI single from Bernard, his second hit of the game. Bernard also swiped two bags during the game.

Also in relief for the Hens was Dustin Molleken in the seventh, who struck out the side. Bobby Parnell took over on the mound in the eighth and Bruce Rondon closed the game.

The Hens take on the Bats tomorrow for a two-seven inning game doubleheader beginning at 5:35 p.m.
