Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm (3-1-0) were 0-30 on the power play heading into Saturday's game with the Reading Royals (2-1-2) at Toledo Sports Arena, but Mike Berry changed all that, scoring the first Storm power play goal of the season; it was Berry's second goal of the year. Scooter Smith added an empty netter, which proved to be the game winner as Toledo is victorious 4-3.

Chris Blight opened the scoring at the 8:27 mark, with Mike Walsh adding the lone assist. Leading through one period, Ken Magowan added a tap in goal, shorthanded, with 11:30 gone in the second period to give the Storm a two-goal cushion. The Royals, though, added a pair of power play goals in less than two minutes, one from Roman Teslyuk at the 16:24 mark, and the other from Arpad Mihaly at 18:09. The teams remained deadlocked until Berry broke the tie at 12:04 of the third with a wrist shot for the right circle. Mike Walsh and Andrew Martin drew the assists. Scooter Smith scored his first goal of the season, a short-handed empty net goal at 19:33 (Ken Magowan, Paul Crosty). Jason Becker would add a power play at 19:42 for the final scoring. Logan Koopmans made 33 saves for his second win of the season. Reading finished with 36 shots; Toledo 32.
