Beaumont, TX (October 28, 2006) The Texas Wildcatters on the strength of six power play goals, defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots for the second time in as many nights by a score of 6-4. It was the first-ever home opening win for the Wildcatters in their brief three-year history and they did in front of a crowd of 4050 at Ford Arena. Marco Rosa scored two goals on the evening and Leon Hayward scored the game winner at the 13:54 mark of period number three. Kevin Baker, Paul Albers and Mike Bayrack added goals for the victorious Wildcatters.

There was a total of 134 penalty minutes in the game and a grand total of 43 power plays. At one point, there were six Ice Pilots in the penalty box. The Wildcatters took full advantage of the power plays going 6 for 25 on the evening. For the second consecutive game, Texas scored all of their goals on the power play and now have converted 10 power plays in the last two games. The record for most power play goals in a game in the ECHL is 7 and behind the bench for that was Wildcatters Head Coach, Malcolm Cameron. It happened on December 27, 2002 when Cameron coached the Cyclones. Tonight's total of 6 for the Wildcatters matched the second best for power play goals in one game in ECHL History. The three stars of the game were Marco Rosa - 1st Star, Leon Hayward - 2nd Star, Mike Bayrack - 3rd Star.

The Wildcatters now head back on the road for three consecutive games beginning on Friday when they play at Columbia, South Carolina against the Inferno.
