Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have announced that defenseman Jake Ortmeyer has signed a professional tryout offer (PTO) with San Antonio of the American Hockey League. Ortmeyer is the first non-contracted player loaned to the RoadRunners' affiliate.

Ortmeyer, 29, leads all ECHL defensemen in scoring with three goals and seven points through four games. The Omaha, Neb. Native and fifth-year pro recorded his first professional hat-trick in the RoadRunners' season opening 3-2 win over the Utah Grizzlies on Oct. 20. It's the first time in his career that Ortmeyer has received a promotion to the AHL.

Ortmeyer is expected to make his San Antonio debut Saturday when the Rampage host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 5 p.m. local time at the AT&T Center.

In other transactions completed yesterday, the RoadRunners have signed goaltender Kevin Reiter to a standard player's contract and added longtime Valley resident Jamie Ram as an emergency back-up goaltender. Goaltender Josh Tordjman has been placed on the seven-day injured reserve while forward Aaron Slattengren has been placed on the three-day injured reserve. Defensemen Matt Smyth and Brian Yandle were each activated from the injured reserve prior to last night's game and both made their RoadRunners' debuts against Fresno.

Individual game tickets for the 2006-07 regular season are currently on sale and can be purchased at the US Airways Center Box Office and at all Ticketmaster outlets including Ticketmaster.com.

The RoadRunners conclude their season-opening six game homestand as they once against host the Fresno Falcons at 7:11PM Saturday at US Airways Center. Information on season tickets, half-season packages, and flex plans are available by calling (602) 462-GOAL.
