Fresno Falcons News Release
Phoenix, Ariz. - The Fresno Falcons suffered their first loss of the season as they fell to the Phoenix Roadrunners 2-1 on Saturday night at US Airways Center.
The Falcons scored the only goal of the opening period, tallying a power-play goal at 13:52. Josh Prudden won a face-off in the neutral zone, and the puck settled on the stick of Dustin VanBallegooie who skated across the Roadrunners' blue line and beat goaltender Kevin Reiter with a quick wrist shot low to the ice.
Phoenix pulled even with a power-play goal of its own just 1:01 into the second period. Brian Yandle centered a pass to Scott May at the hash marks, and May beat Falcons' goaltender Ryan MacDonald with a wrist shot to the stick side.
The Roadrunners took their first lead of the night 6:24 into the final period scoring a 5-on-3 power-play goal. Alex Rouleau's shot from the blue line caromed off the back wall and came right to Cam Paddock in the left-wing circle. Paddock one-timed a shot past MacDonald for his second goal of the season.
Fresno had a chance to tie the game at the 8:47 mark as John Morlang was awarded a penalty shot, but his attempt was denied by Reiter.
