FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps offense broke out early, scoring five times in the first inning, en route to a dominant 7-2 win on Mother's Day against the Beloit Sky Carp (Miami Marlins affiliate) at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne first baseman Cole Cummings nearly hit for the cycle, going 3-for-4 with an RBI triple, plus a double and a single.

TinCaps left-handed pitcher Bodi Rascon tossed four solid innings in his start, allowing just one earned run on two hits. Right-hander Ryan Bergert backed him up with three shutout innings in relief.

Fort Wayne second baseman Lucas Dunn also went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The TinCaps sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning. Designated hitter Carlos Luis opened the scoring with an RBI double, which was immediately followed by Dunn's two-run single and Cummings' run-scoring triple. Catcher Colton Bender chipped in with a sacrifice fly, scoring Cummings, to make it 5-0 after the first inning.

Fort Wayne added a run in the third on shortstop Kervín Pichardo's RBI single, which allowed Dunn to score for the second time in the game.

Beloit scored for the first time in the top of the fourth, when designated hitter Zach Zubia hit a sac fly to drive in second baseman Yiddi Cappe. Their only other run came in the eighth on a solo homer by right fielder Brady Allen.

Center fielder Jakob Marsee also ripped an RBI double, driving home right fielder Justin Farmer for Fort Wayne in the bottom of the sixth.

A strong Sunday crowd of 4,904 celebrated Mother's Day at Parkview Field.

The TinCaps begin a six-game set Tuesday, when they travel to Dayton to battle the Dragons (Cincinnati Reds affiliate).
