
Timbers Fall 4-1 on the Road to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium

FRISCO, Texas - Playing their third game in an eight-day span, the Portland Timbers fell 4-1 on the road to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night. Eryk Williamson scored his first goal in MLS play this season, while Diego Valeri added his first assist of the MLS campaign.
Debuts
Hunter Sulte and Zac McGraw made their professional debuts in the match. It marked the first time the Timbers have had two different players make their professional debut in the same MLS match. Jeremy Ebobisse and Andy Polo made their first appearances of the 2021 campaign. Polo earned the start, playing 45 minutes, while Ebobisse made a substitute appearance. Renzo Zambrano earned his first start of the season, featuring in his first MLS match of 2021, playing 90 minutes.

Portland continues a stretch of five games in 16 days with a trip to Mexico City for its second leg in the quarterfinal round of the Concacaf Champions League on Wednesday, May 5 against Club América. The Timbers will then return to Portland to play host to Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, May 9, at Providence Park. Portland began this five-game stretch with a 2-1 win at home against Houston Dynamo FC on April 24 followed by a 1-1 draw against América on April 28 at Providence Park.
Goal-Scoring Plays
FCD - Andrés Ricaurte (Ryan Hollingshead, Freddy Vargas), 2nd minute: Ryan Hollingshead and Freddy Vargas combined down the left side of the field and Hollingshead delivered a cross to the center of the box for Andrés Ricaurte, who converted just outside the six-yard box.
FCD - Jáder Obrian (Phelipe), 13th minute: Phelipe punted the ball from inside his box into Portland's half of the field. Jáder Obrian got on the end of the long through ball in space and finished with a shot from the edge of the box.
FCD - Bressan, 45+3: Off a corner kick, Timbers goalkeeper Hunter Sulte made the initial save on José Antonio Martínez's shot from inside the box, but Bressan pounced on the rebound and finished from close range.
POR - Eryk Williamson (Diego Valeri), 62nd minute: Eryk Williamson surged down field on the attack and played a quick pass to Diego Valeri at the top of the box. Valeri sent the ball right back to Williamson, who slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.
FCD - Dante Sealy (Franco Jara, Paxton Pomykal), 85th minute: Paxton Pomykal played a ball out wide to Franco Jara making a run down the left side of the field. Jara sent a cross into the middle of the box and Dante Sealy fired the ball into the back of the net.
Notes
Eryk Williamson scored his first goal of the season. Williamson has scored four goals in his MLS career.
Diego Valeri tallied his first assist in 2021 MLS play in the match.
Valeri notched the 89th assist of his MLS career, which ranks as the 10th-most assists in MLS history.
Valeri's assist was his 38th road assist - the eighth-most in MLS history.
Valeri turned 35 today. It marked the second time in his career that Valeri has notched an assist on his birthday. He also accomplished this feat in 2016.
Hunter Sulte is the second youngest goalkeeper to ever start an MLS match at 19 years and six days.
Sulte is the second MLS player from Alaska, joining Ely Allen.
At 6'7", Sulte is the tallest goalkeeper in MLS history.
Zac McGraw is the first MLS player from Army West Point and the second MLS player from a Service Academy (Joe Greenspan) to appear in an MLS match.
