Midfielders Cristian Cásseres Jr. and Caden Clark each tallied a goal to lead the New York Red Bulls (1-2-0, 3 pts) past Chicago Fire FC (0-2-1, 1 point), 2-0 on Saturday at Red Bull Arena.

New York snapped its two-match losing streak with its first clean sheet of 2021. It was the Red Bulls first home shutout since October 28, 2020 against the New England Revolution.

Head Coach Gerhard Struber earned his first win as an MLS and New York Red Bulls manager. He has tallied a win for three different top-flight clubs in his career, which include Barnsley FC and Wolfsberger AC.

The Red Bulls are 24-13-4 in their last 41 matches at Red Bull Arena. New York has outscored their opponent, 58-37, during that stretch.

Following a scoreless first-half, Fábio layed-off a pass towards the top of the box for Cásseres Jr, who rocketed a one-timer past Chicago goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth for the eventual game winner in the 47th minute.

New York doubled the lead in the 64th minute as captain Sean Davis lofted a ball in the box to Fábio. Fábio headed the ball towards Clark, who volleyed his shot to the far post for the insurance goal.

Cásseres Jr. and Clark doubled their 2021 goal totals to two on the season. Cásseres Jr. has scored in back-to-back matches.

Fábio, in just his third MLS match, recorded two assists.

Davis recorded his first assist of 2021 and his 20th MLS regular-season assist. New York's captain has tallied at least one regular-season assist in seven MLS seasons.

Brazilian goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded his first clean sheet at New York and his second career in MLS. Coronel needed four saves to tally the shutout.

Coronel became the seventh different New York goalie to record a cleansheet at Red Bull Arena. It was the team's 73rd overall shutout at RBA.

Newcomer Frankie Amaya made his first start for New York.

New York concludes their two-match homestand on Saturday, May 8 against Toronto FC. Kickoff against TFC is set for 1 p.m. ET on MSG and MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
