Sioux Falls, SD - The New Mexico Thunderbirds defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 128-115 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Saturday night. Sioux Falls surrendered season-highs in points and free throws (34) to fall to 2-10 at home.
New Mexico (12-13) had a 14-point lead (37-23) after the first quarter and led 66-54 at halftime. New Mexico converted 20-of-25 free throws in the opening half while Sioux Falls (3-19) was a perfect 8-of-8.
Sioux Falls cut the deficit to nine points (96-87) early in the fourth quarter but that is as close as they would get as New Mexico pushed the lead back to as many as 18 points and cruised to victory to snap a four-game losing streak.
Abdulai Jalloh scored a season-high 32 points including 12-of-14 free throws to lead the Thunderbirds. Jamine Peterson posted 27 points and 10 rebounds in only his second start of the season and Dar Tucker added 22 points and a season-high 14 rebounds.
David Bailey scored a season-high 30 points, 28 of those coming in the second half, to go along with eight assists to lead the Skyforce. Anthony Harris scored 23 points and Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman added 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
New Mexico travels to Austin to take on the Toros on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT. Sioux Falls takes on archrival Dakota on Saturday in Bismarck at 7 p.m. CT.
