Vipers Sweep Win Tenth Straight

Bismarck, ND - Richard Roby posted 22 points and nine rebounds as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers defeated the Dakota Wizard 114-101 Saturday night at the Bismarck Civic Center.
The victory was the Vipers 10th straight and improved their record to 17-7.
The Wizards (7-20) once again got off to a fast start for the second night in a row and led 14-8 at the 5:11 mark in the first quarter. Chris Johnson would spark a 9-2 run for Dakota scoring five of his quarter high 11 points during the run to give Dakota a 23-10 lead with 3:22 left.
The Wizards pushed the lead to 14 points, their biggest lead of the game, scoring the first five points of the second stanza. Mouhammed Faye scored five of the Vipers (17-7) final eight points in the quarter to cut the lead to 57-53 at the break.
The Vipers struck early in the third as Richard Roby knocked down one his three three-pointers and would take their first lead of the game at 60-59 on a jumper by Ish Smith with 9:48 left in the quarter. There would be seven lead changes in the quarter and the Wizards trailed 81-79 at the end of three.
Jerel McNeal would strike again for the Vipers hitting a three-pointer with 4:52 left in the game giving the Vipers the weekend sweep of the Wizards.
Jeff Adrien recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds and Houston Rockets-assignee Ish Smith recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 10 assists. Terrel Harris came off the bench to score 20 points going 4-6 from behind the arc.
The Wizards were led in scoring by Chris Johnson who recorded a season high 34 points along with 14 rebounds and four blocked shots.
The Wizards are back in action next Saturday and Sunday as the play host to the Sioux Falls Skyforce at the Bismarck Civic Center.
