Flash Dominate Toros in Win

The Utah Flash (12-10) sealed the weekend series tonight with a win against the Austin Toros (10-13). The Flash won by 33 points, the team's largest win margin of this year.

The Flash outscored the Toros 24-13 in the first quarter. The Flash came out quick with five steals and nine fast break points in the first quarter.

The Flash remained in front of the Toros with a 20-point lead as the game went into halftime (53-33). Brian Hamilton led with 10 points in the first half and Tony Gaffney and Brandon Costner each had six rebounds. The Stampede were led by Lance Thomas with nine points and four rebounds; Lyons also had four rebounds going into the second half.

Although Utah and Austin both had 27 points in the third, the Flash closed out the third quarter with another 20-point lead (80-60). The fourth quarter sealed the win for the Flash. The Flash outscored the Toros 33-20. Costner had the game's only double-double leading with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Palmer was the Toros leading scorer with 14 points; Lyons had seven rebounds.

Seven Utah players scored in the double digits, including all five starters. Pape Sy, who is on assignment from the Atlanta Hawks, had 11 points and three rebounds.

The Flash go on the road starting Wednesday, Jan. 26, when they play the Texas Legends in a two-game series. They then head to Austin to face the Toros for the third time this month. The team is back home against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Monday, Jan. 31. Tickets for that game, are still available by calling (801) 434-4667 (HOOP).
