New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Aug. 13, 2009 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds, along with the NBA Development League, have released their 2009-2010 schedule which features 24 home dates. The team will kickoff its fifth season on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7:00 pm Mountain Time when they take the Tingley Coliseum floor against the Bakersfield Jam.
The next night, the NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers' affiliate team, the D-Fenders, will be in town to take on the Thunderbirds. To be a part of the action, call 505-265-DUNK (3865) to get your season tickets from as low as $4 per game.
This season the Thunderbirds will host 17 weekend games, making it even easier than ever for the local community to be a part of the experience. The schedule will also feature two school house jam games, which are currently scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 15, and Tuesday, Feb. 2.
"I'm excited to have so many weekend dates," said vice president of business operations Adam Minnick. "The league has worked hard with us to give us a great schedule with many premium dates for our fans."
The longest homestand of the season will feature eight games from Jan. 20 to Feb. 6. The team will finish the season with an eight game road trip as it jostles for playoff position during the stretch run. Albuquerque will wrap up the regular season on April 3 against the Reno Bighorns.
"Once again, we face a challenging schedule, but I see it as nothing ventured nothing gained," said Thunderbirds head coach John Coffino. "We're excited to put together a team that's capable of making a championship run, and look forward to another exciting season in New Mexico."
The Thunderbirds will also take part in the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase that will take place from Jan. 4-7 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho. Further highlighting the 2009-10 NBA D-League Schedule is the All-Star Game and Dream Factory which is part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas at NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas.
Season Tickets are now on sale for as low as $4 per game. Call 505-265-3865 or visit www.abqtbirds.com for more information.
