
Bighorns to Tip-off NBA D-League Season on Saturday, November 28th

RENO, Nev.- The Reno Bighorns open their 2009-10 season in the NBA Development League on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. PT when they travel to play the Idaho Stampede at Qwest Arena.
The Bighorns-Stampede contest is the first of 50 regular season games for Reno, 24 of which will take place at the Reno Events Center. The Bighorns will also take part in the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase that will take place from Jan. 4-7 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.
"We're very excited about the upcoming season," said Bighorns President and Managing Partner Stuart Katzoff. "We look forward to again bringing affordable family entertainment to Reno in the form of an electric, up-tempo atmosphere of professional basketball."
Also highlighting the 2009-10 NBA D-League Schedule is the All-Star Game and Dream Factory, which is part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas at NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas.

For the first time, the NBA D-League will feature two conferences, East and West, for the 2009-10 season with the Red Claws and Armor joining the Eastern Conference. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Dakota Wizards, Erie BayHawks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Iowa Energy, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce and Springfield Armor, while the Western Conference includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, Austin Toros, Bakersfield Jam, Los Angeles D-Fenders, Idaho Stampede, Reno Bighorns, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Tulsa 66ers and Utah Flash.
The NBA Development League, founded in 2001, is the NBA's official minor league whose teams have direct affiliations to NBA franchises. For the 2009-10 season, the league will feature 16 teams - including the debut of the Maine Red Claws and the Springfield Armor. A proven developer of talent, 20 percent of players in the NBA at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season boasted NBA D-League experience, while the league continues to develop coaches, referees, and front office staff for the NBA and its teams. In fostering the league's connection to the community, its teams, players and staff promote health and wellness, support local needs and interests, and assist in educational development through NBA D-League Cares programs. The NBA D-League also advances the game of basketball as the research and development arm of the NBA.
