August 13, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
Tulsa 66ers News Release
Tulsa, Okla., August 13, 2009 - The Tulsa 66ers, direct affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder, will tip-off their inaugural season at the Tulsa Convention Center at home in a back-to-back match up against the 2008-09 NBA Development League runner-up Utah Flash on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29.
The schedule consists of 17 weekend dates out of 24 total regular season home games, making affordable, fun-filled family entertainment easy to enjoy.
"The newly-renovated Tulsa Convention Center will be an exciting place to call home for many years to come," 66ers President Jim Brylewski said. "We are excited to provide our fans fun NBA-style entertainment during our games. Fans will be pleased with all of the renovations to the building, and how close to the action you can sit."
With the addition of the Maine Red Claws and Springfield Armor, the NBA D-League will have 16 teams this season, with a team in Frisco, TX set to begin play in 2010-11. Each team is affiliated with one, two or three NBA teams, giving fans multiple chances to see current and future NBA players each night at the Convention Center. The 66ers are solely affiliated with the Thunder, being one of three teams in the NBA D-League fully owned and operated by their NBA parent club.
For the first time, the NBA D-League will feature two conferences, East and West, for the 2009-10 season with the Red Claws and Armor joining the Eastern Conference. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Dakota Wizards, Erie BayHawks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Iowa Energy, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce and Springfield Armor, while the Western Conference includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, Austin Toros, Bakersfield Jam, Los Angeles D-Fenders, Idaho Stampede, Reno Bighorns, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Tulsa 66ers and Utah Flash.
The NBA D-League Showcase will be held from Jan. 4-7 in Boise, Idaho at the Qwest Arena. The Showcase is a four-day basketball extravaganza, highlighting every player and team twice during the event to NBA scouts, general managers and player personnel.
The NBA D-League All-Star Game is Saturday, Feb. 13 in Dallas, in conjunction with NBA All-Star, and the 66ers host the Red Claws for the first time in team history in the first game back after the break on Thursday, Feb. 18.
Tickets are available for the 2009-10 season at various affordable options. The 66ers also have group ticket options available now, and individual game tickets will go on sale in late fall. Fans interested in tickets are asked to call (918) 585-8444, or visit the team's website at tulsa66ers.com.
