Everett Silvertips News Release
Everett, WA - The Silvertips couldn't find the back of the net Saturday night as Calvin Pickard stopped all 29 Everett shots to lead the Thunderbirds to a 4-0 victory at Comcast Arena. Pickard picked up his second shutout of the season in route to his sixth win of the year. Brendan Rouse picked up three points for Seattle (1 Goal, 2 Assists), while Jonathan Parker, Lindsay Nielsen and Sena Acolatse rounded out the scoring for the thunderbirds.
Everett and Seattle played the first period without any scoring, solid goaltending from Kent Simpson and Calvin Pickard kept the score tied 0-0. Seattle went on to outshoot Everett 11-9 after the first 20 minutes of play.
The Thunderbirds picked up the nights first goal after an odd play gave Seattle the 1-0 lead. Simpson, handling the puck from the low right circle, moved the puck to his backhand trying to pass it over to Rasmus Rissanen but mishandled the puck as it found the back of the net at 6:11 for a 1-0 Seattle lead. The Thunderbirds increased their lead on the power play as Sena Acolatse beat Simpson with a one-timer from the point at 9:15. Seattle increased their lead to three after capitalizing on a Kellan Tochkin instigator penalty at 11:48. Lindsay Nielsen went on a breakaway from a Charles Wells pass beating Simpson top shelf, blocker side making the score 3-0.
Seattle padded their lead at the end of a power play late in the third period with Jonathan Parker's 11th goal of the year. The goal came at 17:07 giving the Thunderbirds a 4-0 lead to round out the scoring.
This brings the âTips record to 12-6-1-0 with 25 points in 19 games played. Wednesday night concludes Everett's three game home stand with a 7:05 pm meeting against the Kamloops Blazers.
