Thomas Heemskerk played strong in goal stopping 37 of 39 shots faced to take home the second star of the night, his eighth win of the season and ties him for first in the league in save percentage at .926. Shane Harper took home two goals on the night increasing his team leading total in points to 25. The line of Tyler Maxwell, Byron Froese and Kellan Tochkin had two points each on the night. Maxwell has five points in the last three games (4 Goals, 1 Assist), Froese has a five game point streak (3 Goals, 4 Assists) and Tochkin extends his point streak to eight games (2 Goals, 9 Assists). Scott MacDonald picked up two assists while Alex Theriau and Rasums Rissanen had an assist each.
Late into the first period Everett scored the first goal of the game with Harper's 11th goal of the season. Everett swarmed the net where Harper collected a rebound before Kelowna goalie Adam Brown could cover the puck for a tap in at 19:00. The Silvertips led in shots 12-10 after 20 minutes of play.
Everett took advantage of a Kelowna too many men penalty in the second period to increase their lead. Tochkin, from the point, made a pass to Froese on the goal line who then quickly hit Maxwell on the back door for an open net and an Everett 2-0 lead at 8:41. Everett's third goal of the night came on a play mirroring their previous goal. Again on the power play, Tochkin from the point found Froese on the doorstep to Maxwell backdoor for the 3-0 lead at 15:05.
Kelowna collected its first goal of the night on the power play after Stephan Novotny rushed down to the left circle snapping the puck past Heemskerk at 3:12 to make the score 3-1. Everett answered right back just 38 seconds later when Harper collected his second goal of the night after a pile up in front of the Kelowna net to make the score 4-1 Everett. The Rockets took advantage of the power play again when Tyson Barrie fired the puck from the slot at the end of a 5 on 3 advantage finding the back of the net and bringing the score to 4-2. Kelowna pressured hard in the Everett zone but great goaltending from Heemskerk kept the Rockets from scoring and led Everett to a 4-2 win.
This brings the âTips record to 12-5-1-0 with 25 points in 18 games played. The Silvertips continue their three game home stand tomorrow night against the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:05 pm. Wednesday night concludes the home stand with a 7:05 pm meeting against the Kamloops Blazers.
