The Thunder rode a three-run second inning to a 3-1 rubber-game victory over the Reading Fightin Phils on Education Day Wednesday at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Trenton (20-11) plated all three of its runs in the second inning off Fightin Phils (11-18) starter JoJo Romero. Mandy Alvarez doubled with one out, and after a walk and a fielder's choice, scored on a Ben Ruta double to left-center. Two batters later, Trey Amburgey lined a single to left-center, scoring Jhalan Jackson and Ruta, for a 3-0 Thunder lead.

Jonathan Loaisiga struck out eight batters over five innings for the Thunder in his second double-A start, and allowed the only Reading run on a fourth-inning solo home run by Zach Green.

Rehabbing Yankees third baseman Brandon Drury went 0-for-2 with two walks in his sixth rehab game with the Thunder.

Matt Frawley and Kaleb Ort each pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Thunder, with the latter earning his first save.
