(Manchester, NH)- New Hampshire Right fielder David Smith hit a three-run home run to lead the Fisher Cats past Trenton 7-2 on Tuesday night from Merchantsauto.com Stadium in Manchester, NH. Trenton had its six-game winning streak come to an end with the loss. The Thunder also lost its first game on its current road trip (4-1).

New Hampshire (41-61) had three consecutive hits off of Thunder starting pitcher Jason Jones (10-4) to start the bottom of the first inning. Left fielder Travis Snider had an RBI double to plate the first run for New Hampshire. Later in the frame, a groundout by Designated hitter Brian Jeroloman made it 2-0. Trenton (63-38) tallied a run in the top of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Right Fielder Edwar Gonzalez to cut the deficit to 2-1. The home run was his eighth of the season. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Fisher Cats opened up the lead with four runs off of Jones. New Hampshire increased the lead to 3-1 on an RBI single by Catcher J.P. Arencibia. With two outs, Smith connected on an opposite field three-run home run to extend the lead to 6-1.

Jones allowed a season-high 10 hits over four innings to take the loss. He gave up six earned runs. Jones has lost both of his starts against the Fisher Cats this season, and is 0-3 in his career against New Hampshire in six appearances (four starts). New Hampshire starting pitcher Brett Cecil (5-2) scattered six hits and one run in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. Center fielder Austin Jackson had two hits and an RBI walk in the loss. New Hampshire Second baseman Scott Campbell went 2 x 2 with two runs, a double, and three walks.

Trenton will look to bounce back on Wednesday night with the third game of the four-game series. LHP Chase Wright (8-2, 3.09) will start for the Thunder against LHP Ricky Romero (5-5, 5.33). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
