(Reading, PA)- Eric Duncan had a pair of two run homers, but Trenton couldn't overcome a six-run 1st Inning by Reading in a 9-7 loss to the Phillies on Friday night. The loss for Trenton is their 19th in the last 22 games played in Reading.

Aftre Trenton scored a run in the top of the first, Reading (25-34) jumped on Trenton starter Tyler Clippard for six runs in the bottom half and two more runs in the 2nd Inning. 3B Carlos Leon started the scoring with an RBI double. C Jason Jaramillo capped the 1st Inning with a three-run homer. A pair of sacrifice flies scored the runs in the second. Clippard (2-8) allowed eight runs in one inning on five hits and three walks.

The Thunder (29-31) rallied in the 4th and 5th Innings to cut the gap to 9-6. 1B Eric Duncan slammed a pair of two-run homers off Reading starter Allen Davis, who allowed six runs (four earned) in 4 1/3 innings. Trenton cut the deficit to 9-7 on an RBI double by RF Vince Faison in the 6th Inning. The Thunder loaded the bases with one out in the 7th Inning, but Reading's Brian Reed got out of the jam. Reed (1-1) allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings of relief for the win.

Trenton again had two runners on in the 9th Inning against Chris Key, but Kevin Howard hit into a doubleplay to end the game. Key worked the final two innings scoreless for his 3rd save.

The Thunder were able to stay in the game thanks to a fantastic job of relief by Danny Borrell. He held the R-Phils to one run and five hits over seven innings of work. Borrell walked one and struck out six.

The series continues on Saturday at 7:05 PM. Matt DeSalvo makes his first start of the season for Trenton after being recalled from Columbus. Reading will start Zach Segovia (3-1, 3.90).
