June 9, 2006 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

The Binghamton Mets jumped out to an early eight-run lead, but the Bowie Baysox were able to make the game interesting before Binghamton pulled out an 8-7 victory in the series opener at Prince George's Stadium Friday. The win is Binghamton's third straight.

The B-Mets (26-35) batted around in the first, scoring six times off Bowie's Richard Stahl. Wilson Batista opened the frame with a single and stole second before Ray Navarrete brought him in with a single. Jorge Padilla followed with a two-run homer to center for a 3-0 lead. Two batters later, Andy Wilson doubled and Jay Caligiuri singled, putting runners at the corners for Rashad Eldridge, who doubled home Wilson before Mike DiFelice doubled to score Caligiuri and Eldridge for a 6-0 advantage. Binghamton added two more off Stahl (1-8) in the second, thanks to back-to-back singles by Navarrete and Padilla, both of whom were driven in by Wilson's second double in as many innings for a 8-0 B-Mets lead.

However, Bowie (26-33) wouldn't go down without a fight. In the third, Noah Hall hit an RBI double off Miguel Pinango and Cory Keylor scored another run with a groundout, trimming Binghamton's lead to 8-2. Bowie cut the lead in half on Pete Shier's two-out, two-run single off Pinango (1-3) in the fourth. The Baysox pushed across another on Ryan Huebele's squeeze bunt in the sixth before getting their final two in the seventh on an Orlando Roman wild pitch and Leo Daigle RBI single.

Relievers Eddie Camacho and Matt Lindstrom were able to hold Bowie off the scoreboard for the final 2 1/3 innings, with Lindstrom tossing a 1-2-3 ninth for his third save in four chances. Saturday, the B-Mets play the second game of their three-game set at Bowie. Bryan Edwards (1-5, 5.84) gets the ball for Binghamton against Calvin Maduro (1-4, 3.86) of Bowie. Game time is 7:05 from Prince George's Stadium with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
