Thunder Hold on to Give Brackman First Victory

Trenton, NJ- The Thunder held on for a 3-2 win over Reading in front of 7,830 at Waterfront Park on Thursday night to open up a four game series. Trenton (54-37) scored all three runs in the third inning to give RHP Andrew Brackman enough support to earn his first career Double-A victory .George Kontos tossed three scoreless of relief for the Thunder and JustinChristian added three hits in the win.

Brackman made his fifth start with the Thunder, and immediately became the victim of a first inning error, leading to a run for the R-Phils as they went up 1-0. Michael Spidale reached on the error by Justin Snyder, and Matt Rizzotti brought him home on a double to center field. Reading (44-46) was then held scoreless until the ninth inning.

Trenton answered back and took the lead in the third inning as they tagged RHP J.C. Ramirez for three runs on three hits, including an RBI double by Justin Christian to give the Thunder 3-1 lead. Ramirez (2-2) pitched eight innings and struck out nine in the loss.

Brackman (1-4) finished the night allowing just one unearned run on three hits in five innings of work. The righty struck out five and walked a season-high four in the win. George Kontos tossed three scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts and Ryan Pope allowed a run in the ninth, but held on to pick up his fourth save of the season.

Trenton and Reading continue their four game series on Friday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Adam Warren will make his Double-A debut for the Thunder, and the Reading Phils will go with RHP Michael Cisco. For tickets, call 609-394-330 or online at trentonthunder.com.
