Chesapeake Baysox News Release

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce a series of roster moves today. RHP Jim Hoey was transferred to class Triple-A Norfolk and LHP Nate Nery was transferred to Single-A Frederick. RHP Sean Gleason and RHP Raul Rivero join the Baysox in their place, transferred from Single-A Frederick. With the moves, the Baysox maintain a complete 24-man roster.

Hoey was very good for the Baysox this season, pitching his way to a 3.16 ERA in 31.1 innings. He made 17 shutout appearances of at least one full inning, including a stretch of 16.1 shutout innings that ran across 10 games from May 12 to June 19.

Nery had difficulty adjusting to Double-A hitters, as he lost all four starts he made with the Baysox with a 10.24 ERA. He had considerably more success earlier in the year with Frederick, where he pitched to a 3.79 ERA with a 5-6 record.

Gleason joins the Baysox after earning a 3.02 ERA in 24 relief appearances for the Frederick Keys. He started 10 games for the Baysox in 2009, finishing with a 3-5 record and a 5.96 ERA.

Rivero maintained a 3.27 ERA through 44.0 innings on the hill in Frederick. He held opponents to a .237 batting average and struck out 49 batters.
