Robertson Helps Cats to Shutout Win

New Britain, CT - Tyler Robertson hurled six shutout innings and the bullpen held Portland the rest of the way as the Rock Cats blanked the Sea Dogs, 3-0 on Thursday night.

Robertson (2-9) limited the Sea Dogs to three hits while striking out five to pick up his second consecutive win.

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Manny Delcarmen took the mound for the Sea Dogs to start the game and tossed a perfect inning with three consecutive groundouts. Delcarmen, who is with the team on a rehab assignment, was scheduled to pitch only one inning.

The Rock Cats struck first in the fifth inning. Steve Singleton led off the inning and Alexander Soto followed with a walk. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Mark Dolenc before Yancarlos Ortiz' groundout to first scored Singleton for the 1-0 lead.

The `Cats tacked on two more runs in the sixth when Joe Benson and Singleton each delivered RBI doubles.

Robertson handed the ball over to Loek Van Mil, who fired two shutout innings with just one hit allowed. Billy Bullock closed out the game with one hit and one walk in the ninth but escaped the jam to notch his sixth save.

Jeremy Kehrt (1-7) suffered the loss after surrendering all three runs on four hits in five innings out of the bullpen.

Minnesota Twins' infielder Alexi Casilla - with the Rock Cats on a 10-day rehab assignment - finished 1-for-3 with a walk. Red Sox outfielder Jeremy Hermida was also in uniform for the Sea Dogs as part of a rehab assignment. He was 2-for-4 with a double. Both Hermida and Casilla are scheduled to remain in New Britain for the remainder of the weekend series.
