New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Major League outfielder Travis Snider is returning to New Hampshire to play for the Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, at Merchantsauto.com Stadium Thursday night as he continues rehabilitation.

Snider, 22, last suited up in Manchester on August 3, 2008. The 6'0, 235-pounder from Kirkland, WA ultimately played in 98 games for New Hampshire that season, batting .262 with 17 home runs and 67 RBI. The Toronto Blue Jays first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2006 amateur draft, made his Major League debut on August 29, 2008, becoming the youngest position player on any MLB team at the time.

"We welcome Travis back to Merchantsauto.com Stadium," President/General Manager Rick Brenner said. "He was a very popular player with the Fisher Cats, and we wish him the best of luck on his road to recovery."

The Henry M. Jackson High School alum finished out the 2008 season for the Blue Jays, hitting .301 with two home runs and 13 RBI in only 73 at bats. In 2009, Snider saw action in 77 games for the big league club, putting up a .241 mark with nine round-trippers and 29 RBI.

Snider is batting .241 through 33 games for the Blue Jays in 2010, recording six home runs and 15 RBI through 33 games. The natural lefty was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right wrist on May, 17 (retroactive to May 15). Since then, Snider has made appearances for the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays, the Dunedin Blue Jays, Toronto's Advanced-A affiliate, and the Fisher Cats. In his six road starts for New Hampshire, Snider saw action in right field, left field and at designated hitter. He has batted at a .308 clip in 26 at bats, recording three doubles, four runs, three RBI and a walk.

The Fisher Cats will take on the Binghamton Mets, Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, Thursday night. Rey Gonzalez (1-0, 4.50) takes to the mound for the home team, and will face off against Binghamton's Mike Antonini (5-7, 3.79). Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. An Atlas Fireworks Show follows the game. It will also be Faith and Family Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
